Blurbs!
before we begin, if you havenโt checked out my PDF compilation of our first seven issues here on Vitriol Valerate, i would encourage you to do so, it is accessible only via BitTorrent, and it has some exclusive articles that are not on substack.
also, i made an account on spacehey, for aggregating my content. thatโs not so important unless youโd like to see my home-written CSS layout, my drawings, the music i like, and the books i own. but i do also post new additions here onto one of my blurbs over there. so i guess itโs a good place to stay updated on what iโve been up to.
now letโs get started.
F#ยข% the CPC!
today i want to talk about the 6B4T movement; who they were, what they believed in, and what happened to them.
6b4t was a movement populated and spearheaded by the women of the peopleโs republic of china โ driven toward the goal they share with women of all nationalities โ to free women from the shackles that keep them bound within cold dark cell of patriarchy.
specifically, the women of the 6B4T movement are radical feminists.
naturally, i find the sake of womenโs liberation worth fighting for, and still yet to be won.
iโll say it here and now: women must be liberated, and it must be on terms set by women.
furthermore, it is my belief that womenโs liberation is a prerequisite before the advancement of communism, and particularly of anarchism, and not the other way around.
the subjugation of women predates bourgeois society, and even feudal society, literally by thousands of years, so of course freedom for women could never be dependent on the overthrow of the burgessy.
the instrumentalization of women by men is the very first establishment of the instrumentalization of humanity by class society, it is the first division of labor, the first division of humanity by class.
to tell women that their freedom depends on the overthrow of bourgeois society is an intolerable lie, a lie that enables men to go on delaying womenโs liberation indefinitely, and it must stop.
but sadly, the 6B4T movement is in china, and the communist party of china does not agree with my stance on womenโs liberation.
nowadays, the communist party of china has been hard at work to censor and repress 6B4T in their struggle for their womenโs freedom.
as an anarchist, and as a communist, i believe we are all rightfully obligated to acknowledge this, and to talk at length about why this is happening.
iโve heard many other communists, especially other exponents of maoist materialism calling todayโs communist party of china a โrevisionistโ party, and they certainly are correct, the communist party of china has repudiated maoism since the rise of deng xiaoping.
however, i have to say that i have never seen anyone calling the CPC revisionist over this point, out of many others theyโve repeated countless times, and this fact has captured my undivided attention โ this is the point of revisionism within china that is least spoken of โ our movement, the communist movement is mostly silent about how the party abandoned the line that โwomen hold up half of the skyโ โ and this fact reflects very poorly on all of us as communists.
now, for my thoughts on why the communist party of china censored and repressed the 6B4T movement.
the politics and membership within the communist party of china are disproportionately populated and governed by men, and male members of the party advocate the exclusion of women from participating in political matters. this is the same design by men as always to keep women subordinated while advantaging themselves as men.
of course a male-dominated society would seek to inflate menโs self-appointed status as qualified to provide for women, whom they willfully keep in lower standing such that they would need such provisions that are being withheld by men. i canโt see this as anything other than an establishment meant to preserve menโs sense of entitlement to women.
i also see it as a recurring theme throughout the history of the communist movement, internationally, that male-dominated leftist spaces dishonestly take radical feminists criticism toward communist men as criticism against communism rather than as criticism against them as men.
as an anarchist, as a survivor of sexual violence at the hands of men, i canโt bear this.
the repeated line from communist men, over and over,ย that radical feminists are somehow anti-communist in their analysis of male communists as men sends a backward message that communism is meant to stay within the clutches of the iron fists of men.
the communist party of china is the ruling party of china, and lo, patriarchy has not budged, rather, patriarchy stayed and it controls the movements of the party by the material interests of men.
and the 6B4T movement are specifically women in china who are striving to abolish the institutions of marriage and the nuclear family โ two institutions that put men at the foremost standing as owners and masters over women and their children โ and that is the reason why the communist party of china is repressing their movement.
and my anarchist stance that partisanship and the state are obstacles to the abolition of class society now stands stronger than ever before, as men who dominate a party that controls a state holding means of production can decide to exclude women from participation, in this basis, women are defined through the party and through the state as a class that will always be in a subordinate relationship to the means of production, while elevating the eligibility of more men to control such means, and elevating the of more men to abuse mechanisms of the state to repress women who cry foul of it.
all of this is why the international radical feminist movement was spurred in amerika to begin with, and now itโs happening on a greater scale internationally.
this doesnโt bode well in the west for transsexuals either, as i wrote in issue no. 6, we are much like political wives to the platforms of leftist men, and our marriage to leftist men is already in turmoil. theyโre the ones saying that trans women are women, so how can we hope theyโd handle us in ways that are any better than the way they handle women? the reason you might not see it is because you havenโt felt the smart of it yet. if we were respected in leftist spaces, then why is there so much pornography being presented as positive messaging about us in โ#/TransIsBeautifulโ? why is that the only way that we are seen by folks who say they love us? why are we only seen as easy-and-kinky lovers and whores? why is that being presented to us as our function?
one in three of us are survivors of rape.
one in seven of us are survivors of the sex trade.
do you really think weโre going to be treated any better when we say itโs time to start talking about that?
i can tell you from experience that we wonโt.
as you pointed out too, any communist party with a weak line on women's issues is doomed to fall to reactionary patriarchal views. this is one reason i don't like blaming revisionism solely on deng: i think the groundwork was already there in the times of mao, and their line on womens' liberation simply wasn't strong enough. which, you know, is kind of the problem when your movement is run by men.
this was a good read. thanks for being based
